Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

A Discovery

According to a report citing a family associate, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Subsequently, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Developments

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

Furthermore disputed widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction includes reports of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
