Kai Trump will have multiple high-profile cheerleaders when she begins her professional golf debut on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is related to Donald Trump, received a sponsor's invitation to compete at the Annika tournament in Florida.
Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, possesses numerous golf courses and often matches against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I can't reveal details but we have some close matches," she revealed.
She mentioned that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply stay calm."
"He practically advised me to compete and relax," she continued.
"In my eyes, he's simply a regular grandfather. He can't make it for the tournament. He's focused on presidential duties, so he's rather occupied."
While still amateur, the golfer has played in a mere three competitions recently and has the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
Yet she's able to seek guidance from golf legend, romantically involved with Kai's mother.
"He represents the greatest golfer globally," Kai stated.
"And he's an even better individual. He suggested me to go out there, have fun, adapting to whatever happens."
The golfer will compete against several the biggest names in the sport at the competition, including second-ranked Nelly Korda, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.
The LPGA commented that her participation brings golf to different demographics, particularly with youth audiences.
Kai has a massive following and just introduced her own clothing and lifestyle brand.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
