The incident caused the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two individuals are now facing charges following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be pepper spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.

A toddler was among those injured during the incident. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.

This event – described by police as was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – led to train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
